Simon Pope - Memory Marathon

Dates: 5 – 14 March | Location: Dray Walk Gallery, Old Truman Brewery, London

On Saturday 7 November 2009, artist Simon Pope completed a 26-mile walk through London’s five Olympic boroughs accompanied, on his 12-hour journey, by over a hundred local residents, each of whom walked a 400m section of the route, recalling their stand-out Olympic memories before passing the baton of the microphone onto the next walker. Memory Marathon is an 80-minute filmic record of the day. The film is exhibited as a looped video projection, accompanied by a rolling slideshow of digital portraits of featured participants displayed on a number of plasma screens.
