GameX (the Games & Media Expo) takes place in Philadelphia, USA, from the 23-24 October 2009, and the organisers have put out a call for submissions for the debut GameX Animation Festival. They’re looking for short animated films based on video games, comic books, sci-fi, horror or fantasy, so if you’re an animator who knows their Silhouette Mirage from their Neon Genesis Evangelion you could be in with a chance.

The festival programme already includes La Main des Maîtres, ‘an instant steampunk classic directed at Georges Méliès School in France plus a sneak peek screening of War of the Worlds: Goliath, a 90-minute animated steampunk epic sequel to the classic novel by H.G. Wells’ – it would seem, as such, that classic and/or steampunk subject matter is likely to go over well.

There’s no fee for submitting and the deadline is 5 October. Check out their site for more information.
