London Short Film Festival

The London Short Film Festival is back for it’s eighth year with yet another jam packed programme. We recommend that you check out a few choice highlights at the very least in this short film fiesta:

Clio Barnard: Before the Arbor – a selection of short plus Q&A with the Director;

Shorts a la carte – short films by Kayla Parker, Max Hattler, Julian Hand and Naren Wilks, projected onto your tabletop as you eat at Inamo restaurant;

Tonight We Go A-Gleaning – the London premiere of the Gleaners project, commissioned by Abandon Normal Devices, with an accompanying programme of found footage shorts by Jordan Baseman, Sarah Wood and Dave Griffiths;

Club des Femmes and Spinster Take New Berlin – screening of Tatjana Turanskyj’s Eine Flexible Frau (The Drifter) & performance by Sinster;

And lastly one event that we’ve co-curated, Ben Rivers: This is My Land + In Conversation with Andrew Kötting – a selection of shorts plus post-screening in conversation with Andrew Kötting.

Gleaners - call for Filmakers

Date: Deadline: 5th February | Location: North West Film Archive, Manchester

Abandon Normal Devices has hooked up with the North West Film Archive to present a new project, Gleaners. They are offering two filmmakers an opportunity to spend a month each within the archive, exploring the collection and creating a new work.

Each filmmaker will be matched with a band/musician who will create the film’s soundtrack.  The two resulting films will be showcased in a series of live events across the Northwest, starting with Abandon Normal Devices in Manchester in October 2010, with the musicians accompanying the screenings with a live soundtrack.

This project has been enabled by Northwest Vision and Media and the UK Film Council’s Digital Film Archive Fund supported by the National Lottery.
