Rough Machines deadline approaching!

There are only a few weeks left to submit your proposals:

Animate Projects is looking to commission three experimental works that explore the theme of the rough machine for its online magazine, APEngine.org and for iTunes.

In the spirit of APEngine, we’re looking for crafty provocations – antidotes to digital perfection.

We invite ideas from UK-based artists, animators and filmmakers who can craft an inventive, arresting and engagingly provocative work. We’re not looking for narrative, live action films and students aren’t eligible.

Each commission is £1,000, to include artist’s fee, all production costs and expenses.

To apply: simply email a proposal, no more than 200 words, noting the tools & processes that you would use, for a film that is around 1-3 minutes long, to machines@animateprojects.org. Please also include your contact details and 3 or 4 web links to examples of your moving image work.

The deadline for proposals is 27 August, 5pm. The finished films must be delivered in an uncompressed QuickTime file format by 20 October 2010. The films will premiere on APEngine.org and iTunes from November 2010.
