Made with footage from national film archives, The Miners’ Hymns by Bill Morrison is to be premiered in Durham Cathedral for two nights only. Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson‘s original score for brass will be performed live by a specially selected ensemble of musicians, adding an elegiac and atmospheric soundtrack to Morrison’s cinematic images.

Also, from 7-8pm on 16 July at Durham Town Hall: Bill Morrison and Jóhann Jóhannsson meet to discuss the making of The Miners’ Hymns (free with event ticket for either night).
