Death With Friends, Maryam Jafri, 2010.

Death With Friends, Maryam Jafri, 2010.

Text and art junkies in the South West are in for a treat this weekend as Bristol’s Arnolfini plays host to an exciting festival of contemporary art and performance organised in collaboration with Media Art Bath.

Billed as ‘A Festival of Textual Form – Concrete, Material, Scripted, Performed’ the event will explore the work of artists using text in visual and sonic forms. A focus on work that is less about text as a means of communication than as something that has a shape and structure of its own, will see new performances by Clare Gasson and Maryam Jafri presented alongside Pil and Galia Kollectiv’s epic musical performance Critical Mass, plus  a programme of talks and readings including a screening of Turner Prize nominees The Otolith Group’s film Otolith III.
