Sleep Furiously, Gideon Koppel
As it’s St David’s Day, today’s featured movie is Sleep Furiously. The feature is set in the fading Welsh rural community of Trefeurig, where director Gideon Koppel spent his childhood years. Shot on 35mm and featuring many stunning time-lapse sequences the film paints a delicate portrait of the changing landscape of of a small farming community. As the extract shows the film features some wonderful humorous reminiscences alongside the more melancholy stories of a village in decline.

Dear AP Engine
It is good to see that traditional household skills have not been entirely forgotten.
My own tradition for St David’s Day is to use a leek as a baton for conducting an imaginary orchestra of percussionists.
Yours aye
Jim
NB: The short film about my preparations for a cycling trip to the Arctic Circle – God Gives Nuts But He Does Not Crack Them – has been shown with ‘Sleep Furiously’ on two separate occasions. I think there is a baking connection.
