Julie Ruin: Aerobicide by Sadie Benning

Here’s a cynical swipe at those corporate America advertising types, selling their wares to young female consumers. The video was shot by experimental filmmaker Sadie Benning for Julie Ruin – one of the many musical projects of Riot Grrrl Kathleen Hanna, which in time morphed into punk/dance band Le Tigre, (featuring none other than Sadie Benning herself). If you, like me, see aerobics as some sort of death camp punishment, and enjoy the sight of an 80s newsreader nodding along to a riotous tune, then you’ll no doubt enjoy this.
