APEngine brings you a sneak preview of Badinage, the debut feature by award-winning filmmaker Oliver Harrison. In this dark fairy tale a poet dreams of a surreal world in an attempt to mask the truth. Set in a fantastical ‘other England’ which has fallen under the brutal rule of a fanatical sect, Badinage imagines a world where art, music and free speech are outlawed and beauty has become an ugly word and the poets comprise the last line of resistance. The film is tale of love lost and found, of friendship, betrayal and the magical power of language and words.
Written, Directed and Produced by Harrison and due to be released in 2010, Badinage was shot entirely in the studio using lavish sets and costumes. For more on Oliver and his work check out our interview with him and visit oliverharrison.com.
