Parade, Vicki Bennett

The Great North Run Moving Image Commission for 2010 has been awarded to Claire Leona Apps. The commission offers £30,000 to make a work in response to the Great North Run, a half marathon that takes place annually in  the North East of England. Previous winners include Jane and Louise Wilson, Suky Best, Iain Forsyth & Jane Pollard and this year’s commissionee Vicki Bennett who made Parade, an animated collage of archive footage from the last 28 years of the event.

Apps’ film will tell the story of a father and daughter bonding over the event. She’s a graduate of The London Film School and her previous films include Plastic Love and I Wanna Fuck Tom.
